Will it pass
safety?

An Ontario Safety Standards Certificate (SSC) is required to plate a used car or bring one in from out of province. Run the checklist below for a quick pass-readiness read before you pay for an inspection.

Pads, rotors, lines and the parking brake. The #1 reason cars fail an SSC.

Tread depth ≥ 1.5 mm, no cords showing, matched and properly inflated.

Headlights, brake lights, signals, hazards and plate light all working.

No excess play, no leaking shocks, tie rods and ball joints tight.

No sharp edges, secure bumpers, sound frame and floor — no perforated rust.

This is a self-assessment, not a legal certificate. Only a licensed Motor Vehicle Inspection Station can issue an Ontario SSC.

Answer all five checks and we'll estimate your pass-readiness.
